The actual forms of (2D) distributed data available as a result of the concentric, multiple scale processing are 2D maps of both first & second differences of input brightness distribution. An example of what this all actually means is shown to the right for a typical rural scene.

A single frame image is shown, with animated Gif’s which illustrate the overlaid maps for first differences (a) and second differences (b) of image brightness. It is then by paired frame analyses of sets of similar difference maps for either temporally or spatially displaced views that the necessary data for rapid computation of optimum fusion can be obtained.
