A sequence of such sample images has been turned into an animated GIF which is presented to the right. By careful observation of this animation it should be possible to see a visual representation of the very small local motion (in terms of pixels). It should be clear how readily this subtle local motion is perceived with the naked eye.

Local Motion.

One very simple way of demonstrating the high sensitivity of our eyes to local motion using SHV is to take a simple, small triangle with short sides of length 30 pixels and rotate it, taking sample images at every five degrees of rotation. By doing so, the local motion of the edges at all points is somewhat less than one pixel between adjacent frames.
